Tribe membership follows the father's line? Is this some information written in the scriptures (show us) or is this more information injected by 'Jews'
Tribe: Romanized shebet, Pronounced shay'-bet. From an unused root probably meaning to branch off; a scion, i.e. (literally) a stick (for punishing, writing, fighting, ruling, walking, etc.) or (figuratively) a clan:
A tribe in any context I can find is any group of people under the political power of the descendants of one of the 12 sons. These tribes were also broken down into sub-tribes. The tribes were given specific land areas.
GENESIS 049:028` All these are the twelve tribes of Israel

Here it appears that one tribe would lose a portion of their land to another when one of their daughters married outside their own tribe?
